The delegation members from University of Hawaii at M\u0101noa (from now on referred to as UH M\u0101noa) were welcomed by Professor HABAZAKI Hiroki (Dean, Faculty of Engineering) and Associate Professor OSHIKI Mamoru on Friday, October 20. Dr. Brennon MORIOKA (Dean, College of Engineering), and Dr. Song K CHOI (Assistant Dean, College of Engineering) from UH M\u0101noa visited our campus to discuss future collaborative research and student exchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UH M\u0101noa was founded in 1907 under the Morrill Act as a land-grant college of agriculture and mechanic arts in temporary quarters. The newly-named College of Hawaii relocated to M\u0101noa Valley in 1912. With the addition of a College of Art and Sciences, the College became the University of Hawaii in 1920. The university continued to expand throughout the second half of the 20th century and was renamed the University of Hawaii at M\u0101noa in 1972. It is the largest and oldest of the 10 UH campuses now. According to statistics for fall 2022, it has a total of 19,074 students including 58% of Hawaii students, 36% of U.S. National students, and 7% of international students. It has 14 Colleges and Schools and a total of 243 degrees (programs and academic areas). Of which 99 are Bachelor’s’, 87 are Master’s’, and 57 are Professional and Doctoral degrees. UH M\u0101noa is consistently ranked among the top 2% of nearly 24,000 universities in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n
