The Copperbelt University (CBU), established under Act No. 19 of 1987, is Zambia’s second-largest public university. Guided by its mission “to contribute to sustainable development through the provision of flexible and inclusive teaching, research, and services that are innovative and entrepreneurial,” the university operates eight campuses and six academic centers nationwide, offering more than 100 programs across undergraduate, graduate, and diploma levels. CBU takes a multidisciplinary approach to teaching and research, applying knowledge to address local, national, and global challenges.
One of the institution’s distinctive features is its dedication to environmental stewardship. CBU actively protects and preserves the rich biodiversity surrounding its campuses through initiatives such as its on-campus nature park, which is home to a variety of wildlife species. The park provides unique experiential learning opportunities for students and visitors alike.
