Professor WANG Sheng-Hsiang, Associate Vice President for International Affairs, National Central University (NCU) was welcomed by Professor HABAZAKI Hiroki (Dean, Faculty of Engineering), Professor TABE Yutaka (Director, International Exchange Office), and Professor SATO Toshifumi on Monday, February 17, 2025. Professor Wang visited the Faculty of Engineering to discuss future exchanges under the departmental exchange agreement initially signed in 2018 between the engineering departments of both universities and revised in 2024 to involve Hokkaido University’s Faculty of Environmental Earth Science and Graduate School of Environmental Science. The discussion also included the possibility of expanding the agreement into an inter-university exchange relationship.
NCU is a university with a long-standing history and is one of Taiwan’s top research-oriented institutions. It emphasizes holistic education, providing students with a platform for self-learning and creative exploration. The university is also actively engaged in industry-university collaborations, allowing students to broaden their horizons and develop professional skills. In addition to academic excellence, NCU’s scenic and peaceful campus, adorned with numerous pine trees, is also noteworthy. In a recent survey, it was ranked fourth among 87 sights and landmarks in Taoyuan City. The university continues to build an environmentally friendly green campus, demonstrating its strong commitment to sustainable development.
Professor Wang mentioned that while many Taiwanese students are interested in studying abroad in Japan, the number of Japanese students considering Taiwan remains relatively small. He expressed his hope that more Japanese students will come to NCU, not only for academic pursuits but also to experience and appreciate Taiwan’s culture.
