Founded in 1958 as a higher education institution established by Indonesian independence fighters, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Yogyakarta (UPNYK) is a public university offering diploma, undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs across five faculties: Agriculture, Economics and Business, Industrial Engineering, Mineral and Energy Technology, and Social and Political Sciences.
The UPNYK Faculty of Mineral and Energy Technology comprises five departments: Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Geophysical Engineering. As one of the few earth science faculties in Indonesia, it places strong emphasis on sustainable development—a field in which Hokkaido University also excels. Given this shared focus, the UPNYK Faculty of Mineral and Energy Technology and the HU Faculty of Engineering have promising potential to develop a productive collaborative partnership in the future.
