A Visit from The University of Melbourne

Eleven delegation members from The University of Melbourne (UoM) visited our campus and Prof. Justin Zobel (Pro-Vice-Chancellor), Professor Mark Cassidy (Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology), and Dr. Mark Gregory (International Research Strategy Advisor) were welcomed by the Faculty of Engineering, Hokkaido University on Monday, June 27. After an opening address by Prof. Tsuyoshi Setoguchi (Dean, Faculty of Engineering) and Prof. Taichiro Okazaki (Director, International Exchange Office) gave an introduction to engineering, and then Prof. Toshiro Ohashi, Prof. Taro Mori, and Prof. Youhei Kawamura joined the meeting to discuss future academic exchanges.
After the courtesy visit, The group toured the 360° VR Theater facility for field science experiences, which was just installed this year.

In the evening, the award ceremony of the Hokkaido – Melbourne Joint Research Workshops Fund was held at a hotel in Sapporo. The news of their visit can be also found on the website of UoM.

The University of Melbourne was established in 1853. Around 54,000 students study on the campus including a large number of international students. HU and UoM signed the University-level exchange agreement in 2018.
